Lantern Procession around Trout Lake

August 24, 2022 from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Free

Best way to wind down summer? Is with the Lantern Procession around Trout Lake, a magical experience for all ages with lights, art, music, and (if you’re lucky) fairies among the willows.

On August 24, following the final Wednesday summer concert, come participate in the spell-binding parade, with music provided by:

The Carnival Band

Many of The Carnival Band’s favourite tunes are originals by band members. The remainder of their monstrous repertoire includes samba, calypso, swing, afrobeat, jazz, funk, disco, and traditional music from around the globe. The band believes that community music is grounded in collaboration, with the aim of empowering the individuals involved. Songs and performances are a means to creative expression and community cohesiveness, rather than an end in themselves. If you have a desire to learn and perform, they can help make your dream come true. Some instruments are available for loan, and some of the band members teach music professionally. They do this because they love it, and because it makes the neighbourhood smile!

No time to create your (flameless) light beforehand? No problem because we’ll have a lantern making station in progress during the final concert of our Wednesday Night series (5:30-7:15 p.m.) which takes place outside at the east side of building, near the playground.

Come and dance around Trout Lake in this performer led lit-up procession extraordinaire!
