Come back every week! Here’s the line-up:
The Swingin’ Doors – performing on July 20, 2022
These six Vancouver roots veterans serve up a menu of sizzling hot western swing. This distinctive style of music is a gumbo of country, swing, jazz and blues, featuring the sound of fiddle and steel guitar. Western swing is dance music, so let’s party!
Kaya Kurz – performing on July 27, 2022
As a queer woman of colour, Kaya is a vocalist and songwriter who values equity and diversity. She strives to create inclusive spaces in the Vancouver music scene. Kaya draws influences from artists such as Lake Street Dive, Nina Simone, Rebecca Sugar, and David Byrne. Soul, jazz, and indie/alt pop make up the majority of Kaya’s repertoire.
Vostok – performing August 3, 2022
Vostok (the East) is a lower mainland-based vocal trio primarily performing a cappella. With a strong connection to their roots in Ukrainian music, they also share a love of the rich and varied, yet often interconnected musical and cultural traditions from across Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Their performances are filled with a diverse range of music from across the region in numerous languages and dialects. A Polish lament, a Croatian harvest song, a dissonant Bulgarian chant, a Ukrainian spring song first heard on a Kyiv subway – Vostok takes the listener from bliss to despair and back again.
South Van Big Band – performing on August 10, 2022
The South Van Big Band is a 17-piece jazz orchestra based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Its musical repertoire ranges across swing, bebop, Latin jazz, rock, funk, fusion and contemporary styles.
