This distinctive style of music is a gumbo of country\, swing\, jazz and blues\, featuring the sound of fiddle and steel guitar. Western swing is dance music\, so let’s party! \n\nCome back every week. Here’s the line-up:\nKaya Kurz – performing on July 27\, 2022\nAs a queer woman of colour\, Kaya is a vocalist and songwriter who values equity and diversity. Soul\, jazz\, and indie/alt pop make up the majority of Kaya’s repertoire. \nVostok – performing August 3\, 2022\nVostok (the East) is a lower mainland-based vocal trio primarily performing a cappella. Their performances are filled with a diverse range of music from across the region in numerous languages and dialects. A Polish lament\, a Croatian harvest song\, a dissonant Bulgarian chant\, a Ukrainian spring song first heard on a Kyiv subway – Vostok takes the listener from bliss to despair and back again. \nSouth Van Big Band – performing on August 10\, 2022\nThe South Van Big Band is a 17-piece jazz orchestra based in Vancouver\, BC\, Canada.
