SUMMARY:The Fruit Machine — Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Pride Month Film Screening: The Fruit Machine \nThe Fruit Machine exposes a dark chapter in Canadian history. From the 1950s until 1996\, the Canadian government systematically hunted and interrogated 2SLGBTQI+ people in the RCMP\, military\, and civil service. An estimated 9\,000 people were discriminated against\, harassed\, and often fired – in what is known as the LGBT Purge. \nJoin us for a screening followed by Q&A with survivors from the LGBT Purge Fund board: military survivors Martine Roy and Diane Pitre (who appear in the film)\, and RCMP survivor retired S/Sgt Wayne Davis. Members from Out on Patrol will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served. \nThe Fruit Machine Film Screening — Sunday\, June 7 \n12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  \nFREE \nViewer discretion advised: This film contains sensitive discussions and personal recollections of sexual abuse which may be triggering for some viewers. Support resources will be available.

The self-described “nicest band in East Van” covers ‘em all! \nNorine Braun Band – performing on August 5\, 2026 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.\nEmotional\, heartfelt and eclectic: Norine Braun is an East Van singer-songwriter with 15 albums of bluesy roots rock\, and ambient flavoured songs featuring some of Vancouver’s finest musicians. \nMidmay – performing on August 12\, 2026 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.\nMidMay is redefining Vancouver’s Alternative R&B scene with their eclectic sound and genre-blurring artistry. Fronted by longtime collaborators Tom Shand and Jacob Regehr\, the duo’s journey spans over a decade of creating music together. After 15 years of exploring various projects\, they’ve finally joined forces to carve out their unique space in the indie music world. \nCheco Tohomaso and VOC Sweet Soul Gospel Choir – performing on August 19\, 2026 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.\nFirst half of this performance showcases Checo Tohomaso keeping sweet soul alive\, taking inspiration from Sam Cooke\, Otis Redding\, and Marvin Gaye. These lads joke around between songs and always make sure the audience is having a great time! \nWednesdays\, July 8 to August 26\, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. with the lantern procession starting at 8:30 p.m..\nFREE/ 8 sessions \nNo registration required
