Older Adult Programs
Targeted programs
Older adults are a cornerstone to any community and Trout Lake Community Centre strives to be an intergenerational hub. To help ensure we are providing elder members with things that boost their wellbeing, we offer programs specifically designed for their needs.

Help us serve you better!
With a generous donation from the Al Roadburg Foundation, we are analyzing how to optimally serve local older adults. Please share your input by answering this important short survey! (You can also come in and request a print copy from our wonderful Programmer Maggie.)
(Have a program you’d like to propose offering? Fill in a program proposal and the Program Committee will consider it.)
Come get social
The other key factor for being a neighbourhood hub is social connection! Trout Lake’s Social Tuesdays and Seniors Luncheons are great for creating relationships; amongst participants, but also with staff and other community centre users, clubs and affiliate groups.

Lend your skills
Another huge part of what happens at Trout Lake revolves around volunteerism! Did you know that the Centre’s programming is jointly operated by Park Board and the Trout Lake Community Centre Association (TLCCA)? And that TLCCA is a volunteer-powered charity?
TLCCA’s volunteer Board of Directors relies on volunteer committee members in so many capacities (read more on our Get Involved > Volunteer page) and that includes a Seniors Committee to provide input on what Older Adults programs and activities happen here.
The Trout Lake Community Centre Association holds a strong belief that access to programs should be available regardless of income.
TLCCA Program Cost Assistance
The Trout Lake Community Centre Association’s (TLCCA) Subsidy Policy allows community members who are in financial need to apply for assistance with program fees.
The TLCCA Program Cost Assistance provides assistance with program fees for community members in financial need.
For more details, come in and chat with our wonderful staff.
The policy sets out that:
- TLCCA members can request up to two program subsidies per fiscal year, with a maximum of one subsidy in any program season.
- Members may also request up to two program subsidies in a fiscal year for each of their dependent children (under 18), with a maximum of one subsidy per child per program season.
- The value of each member subsidy will be:
– Up to 50% off regular programs (with the exception of private music lessons)
– Up to 25% off youth and seniors’ programs - The total amount of subsidy funding available is limited (set in accordance with revenue from the previous year) and distributed over the four programming seasons.
Members who are enrolled in Park Board’s Leisure Access Program (more info below) may, with the approval of a Trout Lake Programmer, combine their LAP with the Program Cost Assistance for a further discount of up to 50% of the remaining value, if needed.
Leisure Access Program (LAP)
Did you know that our partner, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, has a subsidy too?
Individuals and families requiring financial assistance may be eligible for subsidy through the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation’s Leisure Access Program (LAP). Those with a valid leisure access card can receive up to 50% discount towards program and fitness centre fees (single admissions and monthly passes) at Trout Lake. For more information about the LAP program, please email [email protected] or get details here.
