Trout Lake Community Centre Association, in partnership with Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, are closely following the events regarding COVID-19. We are reassured that Vancouver Emergency Management Agency (VEMA) is working diligently with partners, including Vancouver Coastal Health, and leading the provincial response to COVID-19.
While Vancouver Coastal Health has advised the risk of COVID-19 remains low, we recognize that there are still concerns.
We therefore wish our community to know that the City of Vancouver and the Park Board are not restricting public events at the city’s facilities or in communities at this time. However, out of an abundance of caution, the City is increasing cleaning protocols at CoV facilities. Indeed, Trout Lake staff are pitching in and taking additional precautionary cleaning measures to help keep our patrons healthy.
For example, we have increased daytime cleaning of common area surfaces that are regularly touched — including counters, door handles, knobs, soap dispensers, and program materials.
In addition, informational posters are being deployed to remind staff and public of best practices. We are encouraging everyone in the community to remember to:
- Regularly wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds
- Practice safe respiratory hygiene (such as cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve but NOT a hand)
- Stay home if they are not feeling well
Please know that the health, safety and well-being of all children and families in our community are a top priority for us. We will continue to provide you with updates if any are required.
However, if you have questions, you are encouraged to visit the BC Centre for Disease Control website bccdc.ca and HealthLinkBC, or to call 811.
Sincerely yours,
Sarah Lusina
President of the Board of Directors
