Licensed Preschool
Trout Lake Preschool strives to give your child the opportunity to experience high quality educational care in a warm, nurturing environment that encourages the development of the whole child.
Trout Lake Preschool has been a long-time resource for families in the neighbourhood and received a 2018 Child Care Legacy Award from the Province “in recognition of 40 years of outstanding child care service”.
Sunny, Audrey and Nayomi offer children aged 3 and 4 a stimulating, warm, and playful educational program.
Creative arts, language, literature, music, field trips and gross motor activities are part of the learning and fun!
Sunny has been teaching here for 20+ years and Audrey and Nayomi for 10. They have a great working relationship and are Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certified.
Program length
Our preschool program operates from September to June. The preschool is closed for two weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Spring Break (as per BC public schools). The preschool is also closed on statutory holidays, for exceptional weather-related closures, and for 3 days per year for professional development. A typical day
A typical day at Trout Lake Preschool begins with a Free Play session, where children can choose from various play centres.
After a healthy snack, children participate in Circle Time, where they play games, share ideas, listen to exciting stories and learn new songs. Of course there’s also time to play outdoors in the fresh air in the Preschool’s awesome gated playground that was fabulously updated in 2019!
At Trout Lake Preschool we feel that it is important for the children to get involved with the materials that we are using. This “hands-on” approach will often be a bit messy. We encourage the children to come dressed in comfortable play clothes that they can get dirty!
Health and safety
Parents can be assured that COVID-19 procedures will be in accordance to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) licensing regulations and physical distancing will be managed according to health guidance from the Ministry of Health and the BC Centre for Disease Control.
Following registration, parents will receive detailed guidance, if necessary, as part of the Preschool Parent Handbook.
